Öz
Bu makalede sosyal adalet tartışmalarının felsefi temelini oluşturan “kör talih” konusu Rawls ve Dworkin’in teorileri üzerinden tartışılacaktır. Her ne kadar Rawls ve Dworkin farklı yollar izlemiş olsalar da kör talih sonucu oluşmuş sosyal eşitsizliklerin telafi edilmesi konusunda aynı sonuca varmışlardır. Kör talih genellikle insanın içine doğduğu şartları anlatmakta ve bu şartların kişinin karakterini ve hayattaki başarıları üzerindeki belirleyici etkisinden kaynaklı kişinin neyi hak edip hak etmediğini belirlemektedir. Rawls’un ahlaki keyfilik dediği durumun yani zenginlik, zekâ, yetenek gibi doğuştan gelen kazanımların refahın ya da kaynakların yeniden dağıtımını etkileyip etkilemediği sorusu tartışılacak ve Rawls ile Dworkin’in teorilerinin dağıtımcı adalet politikaları için tutarlı ve güçlü bir temel oluşturup oluşturmadığı incelenecektir.

Luck and Justice in the Framework of Natural and Social Lotteries
Abstract
In this article, the issue of “brute luck”, which is the philosophical basis of the debates on social justice, will be discussed through the theories of Rawls and Dworkin. Although Dworkin and Rawls took different paths, they came to the same conclusion and both argued that social inequalities caused by brute luck must be compensated. Brute luck generally refers to the conditions in which one was born; and determines what one deserves because of its decisive influence on shaping the moral
character of a person and his/her achievements in life. The question of whether the inborn assets such as wealth, intelligence, and talent influence the distribution of wealth or resources, which is called moral arbitrariness by Rawls will be discussed and the theories of Rawls and Dworkin will be analyzed whether the idea of lotteries provides a consistent and strong basis for redistributive justice policies.
